I - Bath School of Art &#38;amp; Design (2009)II - The Open West, University of Gloucester (2010)
  Plaster and centrifugal force - an exploration.&#38;nbsp;
	A large motor-driven “machine” is constructed from found engineering components and reclaimed steel. Plaster is poured in and thrown against the outside box.
Over several weeks, 200kgs of plaster are gradually poured into the machine and dispersed around the walls of the surrounding structure.

&#38;nbsp;Large scale kinetic sculpture. Both cloud and structure: “Mammatus”. In the high-profile and polished context of the London Design Festival, an installation built to create noise and discomfort, that was flawed and disfunctional to the point of ultimately damaging itself beyond repair.

		<description>An experimental large-scale mark-making machine

Constructed from recycled steel and found engineering components, a 4 metre long arm is manoeuvred by means of a wooden handle attached to a crank mechanism mounted over the base.

The cutting tool at the far end of the arm creates marks in a freely spinning disc on the wall, making a block from which to make prints.

The work is exhibited as three components – machine, its operation (video footage) and the product (block-print). Presented in this order, each work aims to frame a stage of the making process.

		<description>Proposal for a large-scale installation consisting of a series of site / tree-specific sculptures, each moving in constant response to the limbs of an individual tree.

The sculptures envisaged in Twin Towers take the form of light timber ‘devices’, attached to strategic parts of the tree via subtle steel or nylon lines - creating an illusion of the works being self-supporting entities in themselves, yet which move constantly with the tree’s own movement.

Constructed from timber that has been felled or fallen in the local area, using methods that draw upon traditional forestry craft and green woodworking - abstracting joint, splice and cutting techniques into a new form.&#38;nbsp;

		<description>Sand installations exhibited at Tower Hamlets Spring Open and the E17 Arts Trail

Three Dunes was the first installation from an ongoing exploration into fine-particle materials, the accidental and the designed, and the significance of a “trial and error” approach - as participants handled a catapult-type mechanism with increasing expertise and confidence.

Three Dunes revolves around a simple manually operated sprung lever, which catapults tiny quantities of fine kiln sand across a tilting wooden ‘canvas’. The angle of the canvas is adjusted to create increasingly precarious and changing forms.&#38;nbsp;

Urban dunes was a subsequent site-specific interpretation of the same work, responding in scale and operation to its setting.

Collaboration with artist Hannah Schmidt.&#38;nbsp;
