Plaster is poured in and thrown against the outside box. The cutting tool at the far end of the arm creates marks in a freely spinning disc on the wall, making a block from which to make prints. The work is exhibited as three components – machine, its operation (video footage) and the product (block-print). The sculptures envisaged in Twin Towers take the form of light timber ‘devices’, attached to strategic parts of the tree via subtle steel or nylon lines - creating an illusion of the works being self-supporting entities in themselves, yet which move constantly with the tree’s own movement. Three Dunes revolves around a simple manually operated sprung lever, which catapults tiny quantities of fine kiln sand across a tilting wooden ‘canvas’.
