Toby Poolman trained in furniture making at Buckinghamshire College, going on to do an MFA in Fine Art, through which he began his exploration into our preoccupation with machinery and movement through large-scale installation and sculpture. Since then, he has exhibited work both in the UK and abroad. He is also a founding staff member, Technician and Educator for Blackhorse Workshop in Walthamstow, with whom he has developed several large-scale installations and where he shares his fascination for the material and the mechanical through workshops and educational events.
